For the Rotary Club of Niš, caring for the community also means responsibility toward the environment and the generations to come. During the 2024/2025 Rotary year, the club carried out a Serbian spruce planting campaign, contributing to the preservation of nature and the creation of greener and healthier spaces.
Planting trees is a simple but long-lasting form of action – the result of a single campaign keeps growing long after it is over. The choice of the Serbian spruce, a species that is one of the symbols of Serbia’s natural heritage, gave this activity an additional symbolic meaning.
The campaign was an opportunity for club members and their friends to take part directly in an activity of importance for the environment, but also a reminder of the importance of preserving natural resources and of a responsible attitude toward the space in which we live.
With this project, the Rotary Club of Niš continued to develop one of the important dimensions of its present-day work – environmental responsibility, which, together with humanitarian work, support for health care and bringing people together, forms part of the wider mission of the Rotary movement.
The Serbian spruce planting campaign thus remains an example that contributing to the community does not always have to mean direct help to an individual – sometimes it is an investment in nature and in the future of the city and the region.
